Back to back wins for Curtis in Cairns.

CBR's Leanna Curtis wrapped up the National Series on high in Cairns on the weekend with back to back wins on both days and overall Series win, Leanna is showing great form with the National Champs only weeks away.

With some more improvements in the gym, I came into final round of the national series quite confident. I was determined to win this one as I had not won a round yet despite being the series leader.

We only had 8 riders in elite women so we had 3 motos on points. I won the first moto. In the second moto I was a little unfocused down the first straight and was back in the pack in first turn, luckily I was able to get back to third place by the finish line. I won the final moto and ended up tied on points with New Zealander Rebecca Petch, and because I won the last moto I won overall. It was a relief for me to wrap up the series with a win and be the overall national series winner for 2017.

Day 2 was round 4 of the grands challenge with lots of young fast girls coming through. I won all my motos and was feeling pretty good going into my semi final. I had a good start and clean lap to get a win and progress to the final. In the final Saya Sakakibara had a great start and I slotted into 2nd place in the first turn. I lost a bit of ground on her at the end of the second straight after jumping the third jump too high and Saya had made a good lead on me. With two straights left I was still confident I could catch her by the finish line and I rode hard all the way to claim first by a small margin.

It feels great to get my first win of the grands challenge series and it will be good momentum to take into Nationals later this month where ill be working hard to defend my National Title!
